Very saddened by what is happening in the world, I return to my classics. The tirade that Mr. Benja gave from the UN platform, reminding us all of that other shoe from Khruchev during the missile crisis in Cuba, has shaken me to the core of my being.

The difference is that Mr. Nikita, stuffed with vodka, was bluffing and Mr. Benja was not. Things are serious. Mr. Netanyahu, obsessed with Hamas, wants to put the world on his head. Nuclear war? Who cares! We are the chosen people.

The Israeli leader shits on everything, on international laws.

In legal conventions, in respect for human life, in the laws of war.

He curses God or his own god and in the process threatens us all with his bravado; be careful when criticizing Israel; “the Mossad has a long arm”: a profound threat.

Alert, humanity. We are under suspicion in the face of the threats of this tyrant who kills, destroys homes, makes cities fly through the air in bramble bushes, and to top off the irony then goes on to say that they are the good guys and we are a bunch of depraved anti-Zionists susceptible to being the targets of an electronic message that Nostramo sends us and explodes in our hands and blows our heads off.

“When Life Begins” is a book that I read thirty-three years ago. By describing the last years of Tsarism, through the hand of a humble journalist from the city of Oriel, he puts together an inspired picture of what was to come after the arrival of socialism in cities that are in the news today: Kursk, Donetsk, Sevastopol, Odessa, Crimea.

The author never imagined that these deeply Russian places would be the scene a century and a half later of a fierce fratricidal war between Russians and Ukrainians.

Bunin himself was a “barin” (nobleman, landowner) of Ukrainian origin who had to go into exile in Paris for his Menshevik sympathies and his support for the whites.

Khrushchev's kick at the United Nations? The situation is now much more serious. It is a war of Zionism against Christianity and Islam orchestrated by fanatics such as Waldomar Zelensky, Biden, Harris, Culomagno, and Netanyahu.

“When Life Begins” is a portrait of those years with their virtues and defects but highlighting the moral values, the poetry of nature, the magnificent description of the liturgical ceremonies of the Russian church.

Throughout its pages you can hear the rhythmic tinkling of the censers, the resurrection cry of Easter night or the jingling of the chariots dragging the sleighs through the steppe. We continue to await the arrival of the Great Consoler. This book that I read by the sea thirty-three years ago was a revelation, it united my soul to the prophetic destinies that you glimpse in the midst of pain, misfortunes, failures, death but always in the light of hope.

And a great evangelical lesson: we must not fear those who kill the body because they will not be able to kill the soul. A one hundred percent Russian soul. It will be the desperation of serial killers
