SAN ROQUE

 

Acércate niña, que soy san Roque que si viene la peste que no te toque. Por decir viva san Roque llevaron me prisionero y ahora que yago en prisiones viva san Roque y el perro. El bienaventurado sano francés patrono del peregrinar y del vagabundaje es el patrón de los apestados. La sifilis se paseaba al socaire de su esclavina lo portaba su calabaza de camino a manera de cantimplora. Toda España jaranera es una gran fiesta y en Asturias en Galicia en León se le tenía  devoción. Entre sus barbas se esconde la liendre y las llagas del mal francés. Ayer por telegallega difundían escenas bochornosas de la procesión del santo que parecía un monigote sobre las andas que portaban unos mozos borrachos y tres mociñas con las tetas al aire. Después de los voladores y la música de la procesión, debían de conducirse al pajar, o a folgar entre los setos. Claro, que el perro de san Roque no tiene rabo que se lo ha comido Manuel Pintado.

Las fiestas de los santos se han convertido desde que estalla el primer chupinazo de san Fermín hasta san Miguel de Septiembre en una gran bacanal. España se paganiza, se descristianiza. ¿Siempre fue así? Uno no puede menos de tener ciertas prevenciones hacia estas folixias y me dan pena las peregrinaciones jacobeas desprovistas de antiguo sentido penitencial que tenían, pero esto ya es viejo. Ya en el siglo XIV Tomás de Kempis clamaba contra las romerías y las ramerías de estas fiestas locas. Porque de aquellas romerías estas veneras y de aquellos polvos estos lodos.

Decía el autor de la "Imitación": Multo peregrinantur sed paulo minus sanctificantur". Pero tan vez los que decimos que Cristo era un tipo de derechas y nos acusan de conspiranoides estemos fuera de concurso, nos alejamos de la orbita. Regamos fuera del tiesto.

A lo mejor la chusma está en la razón y somos nosotros los locos pero hay que huir del mundanal ruido si se quiere ser feliz. Cada día tiene su afán y cada época su signo. Y los signos no son precisamente hoy los de ese cristianismo medieval con que se divierte el mocerío. Es el Zeitgeist de Nietzsche que retorna. Intus est equus troyanus. El enemigo está dentro de nsotros misos. Finis Hispaniae. Europa se acabó. Que hagan con nosotros lo que les cumpla. Yo acuso.

Inocentadas

 

En pleno agosto cuando el sol empieza a declinar y se alargan las noches, recordando aquellos largos, interminables veranos de la infancia, compás de espera de la vida que estallaba—¡ Dios mío, qué seré, a quien querré, adónde iré, mañana quién vendrá!— cuando tirábamos varetas por wel barrio de Castrobocos y los domingos todos a misa, retorno al ayer segoviano que se fue.

Había moras cantidad al otro lado del puente romano por el que pasaron las legiones romanas y los carneros de la mesta morisca, las recogíamos en un bote y nuestras madres nos las aderezaban con azúcar y un poco de vinillo de en cá el Tío Loco aquel tabernero que tenía una tasca cerca de la fábrica de Klein. Sabían ricas incluso las pintonas.

Y los monagos de la catedral empezábamos a preparar las fiestas del obispillo, pasado el novenario de la Virgende la Fuencisla. Elseñor Sebastián el sacristán nos maravillaba con su agilidad de gato al trepar por la maroma que colgaba desde lo alto de la cúpula gótica. La cuerda conectaba el templo con el campanario de la iglesia mayor de Segovia y era maravilla verlo gatear sin cansarse cerca de cuarenta metros en vertical. Aquel alarde era la señal de que moría el verano y se acercaba el otoño con sus hielos y relentes. Que concluía con los autos de navidad en el enlosado y sobre todo con la fiesta del obispillo de tradición medieval. Todo lo que sube baja y lo que está abajo se encima. Ley de vida. las inocentadas eran una señal de la fugacidad de las cosas humanas.

El acontecimiento era toda una lección de humildad. Porque ese día, coincidiendo con la llegada de San Nicolás, el acólito más pequeño era proclamado deán y era asistido por un minorista en el simulacro de misa pontifical. Se le paseaba en andas, triunfal, a guisa de silla gestatoria, por el claustro, con un báculo en la mano y una mitra en la cabeza que le venía enorme, mientras el coro iba cantando por detrás el “Iste Confessor” cambiando el texto latino por parodias chistosas en romance. Se hacían momos y pantomimas. Era cosa de ver aquel jolgorio.

Durante veinticuatro horas el obispillo mandaba en la catedral y era lo que se dice un rey de armas. El ceremonial era de raíz pagana y se había instalado de costumbre tradicional en la iglesia desde tiempo inmemorial.

Se honraba de este modo la llegada de   san Nicolás que acudía a la cita anual cargado de regalos que traía en un saco y se desarrollaban en las escuelas catedralicias las famosas inocentadas.

Relación había entre los niños degollados y las saturnales paganas para conmemorar el final del año solar.

En versión católica, la fiesta de los acólitos y ostiarios tenían lugar a la puerta de las catedrales con la benevolencia de los sacerdotes. Llevaban un burro a coro cantando canciones licenciosas.

Al momento de yantar, se enviaban al refectorio paquetes de envoltura; dentro había dulces, juguetes y toda clase de regalos. En todo caso, carbón y serrín, también, cuando el comportamiento o la aplicación escolástica del alumno había dejado que desear.

Según hubiera sido el comportamiento del primer trimestre llamado Michelmas, así la calidad de los presentes.

Asimismo, se destronaba al rey Herodes arrebatándole el cetro y la corona.  Al funesto degollador de inocentes al final lo quemaban en efigie, no sin antes haber tiznado su estatua de piel de sapo.

El sapo ese místico batracio cuya saliva usaban las brujas para volar. La primera escarcha marcaba el fin de la temporada micológica. Ya estábamos a las puertas del invierno y los campos aparecían sembrados de setas alrededor de la capital.

Se va 2011 hoja volandera llevándose el polvo de estrellas de los últimos 365 día. Un diácono en el guial de mi radio canta la Passio y llega al pasaje en que pregunta a Jesús Pilatos:

-Quid fecisti? ¿Qué has hecho?

Y el pretor y el prisionero se enzarzan en uno de los grandes diálogos carismáticos de la historia del mundo. El romano quería salvarlo porque creía en la inocencia del reo y el sanedrín-siempre el sanedrín- clamaba:

-Quítale de ahí, mándalo al patíbulo.

El kerigma de la redención fortalece mi pobre fe que a veces parece que se derrumba. Es la soledad profética del martirio del testigo de la fe al que nadie secunda. Y no quiero entrar en el paladio de mi duda. Es un lugar secreto. Para vencer la tentación mis labios no se cansan de pronunciar la plegaria hesicástica de los padres del desierto. Jesús hijo de David tenga piedad de mí. Kyrie eleison. Gospodi pomiluy.

No soy más que moneda forera, calderilla que se intercambia en el tenderete para pagar los sufragios y pitanzas de sus caridades. Y hoy día de san Silvestre mi mente vuela hacia las aguas del Arlanza ese Jordán burgalés cuna de tantos monasterios y rindo mi tributo a la memoria de un monje que escribió la mejor epacta o los trabajos y los días del buen cristiano que vive a pie de calendario y assite impávido al tránsito de las estaciones. Me refiero al Año Cristiano de fray Justo Pérez de Urbel el abad falangista el que colocó una cruz mirando a Madrid más alta que una montaña y que hoy quieren derribar los impíos con la misma saña con que los escribas y fariseos vociferaron contra el manso Jesús.

Aquel abad silense nació el 8 de septiembre de 1895 en Pedrosa del Río Urbel, ingresó en los benitos a los diez años y fue ordenado sacerdote el 1918. de acendarda vocación literaria pronto fue proclamado abad de Silos. A la sombra del famoso ciprés de su claustro van en búsqueda de remedio espiritual poetas, literatos, políticos, abogados de Madrid. Consta en los anales que Rafael Alberti y Gerardo Diego fueron amigos de aquel abad munificente y algo mecenas. El primero se adhirió a las izquierdas. Diego, falangista y uno de los grandes vates castellano de posguerra inmortalizó al ciprés de Silos en un soneto.

Fray Justo hacía misiones y daba conferencias por los pueblos de Castilla , fue el eximio publicista que nos dio a conocer a los niños de las escuelas de aquel tiempo las fuguras de El CID, fERNÁN gONZALEZ, dña Jimena, y eso creó ewn nuestras coinciencias huella cindeleble-y de este itinerario espiritual surgieron recopilaciones de viejas costumbres, canciones,- Castilla ama la libertad como ella sola, es la patria del fuero comunero- y libros como fueron los viejos romances y el cantar de Mío Cid que son el legado de la literatura castellana a la historia de las letras universal.

Yo conocí al abad de Silos allá por el año 58 pues con frecuencia venía a ver a un compañero nuestro en el seminario de Segovia al que apadrinara y pagaba la beca. Era de mediana estatura, muy calvo,  numismático perfil de auténtico monje, una efigie románica del medievo, de ojos penetrantes con lentes de alambre voz profunda muy humilde y campechano. A pesar de sus grandes conocimientos. Siguiendo la norma de su regla “ora et labora” cálamo en ristre había descubierto los tesoros insondables del primitivo cristianismo hispano, el rito mozárabe o visigótico y desenterrado partituras musicales donde se esconde la conexión de la religión de Jesús con la belleza. Fue un apóstol de la tradición. Carrero Blanco lo nombró abad de Cuelgamuros pero  a diez años  de su patronazgo abacial fue defenestrado por causas que se desconocen, dicen que el OPUS estuvo detrás de aquella movida y los grupos afectos a Carrero que lo encumnbraron luego acabaron con él. Fray Justo fue empero el alma del Valle de los caídos. Fue un golpe muy duro hasta el punto de que cundieron rumores de que se extravió, estuvo a punto de colgar los habitos y que se juntaba con gente poco recomendable, y llegó a vivir con una querida. ¿Era la madre de aquel latino segoviano al que iba a visitar los jueves y a llevarle el talego? Sean ciertos o meros bulos estos rumores verdad es que lo pasó mal y el Señor lo probó con fuerza y en él se cuimplió el axioma cidiano de que Castilla face los omes e los desface.. Quienes más debieran amarle más le odiaron. Es el suplicio por el cual han de pasar los genios de este país. Murió el día de san Pedro de 1979.

Y en la búsqueda de esta meta Pérez de Urbel chocó siempre con los jesuitas que preponderaron en el redimen de Franco a partir de 1958 implantando una suerte de secularización y acomodo a las nuevas realidades de la tecnología y de los cambios sociales. Por esta causa perdió el predicamento que tuviera en el Pardo aunque él siempre sería un amigo eminente del Caudillo.

Es una pena que su gran obra empañecida por ataques personales y argumentos ad hominem permanezca soterrada en los anaqueles bibliotecas y ninguneada por la historiografía y la crítica en manos perversas hispanofobas y anticatólicas. Sin embargo, la personalidad del abad silense se sale de la norma y de los cauces de hoy. Era un trasunto de aquellos prelados medievales que llevaron la mitra sobre sus cabezas (el arzobispo Carrillo, Gil de albornoz, Cisneros, Ximenez de Rada, el cardenal Mendoza)

Adquiere mayor talla la figura de estos epígonos que copiaron códices, compusieron himnos litúrgicos, hicieron la guerra, casaron príncipes, crearon instituciones benéficas, fundaron monasterios y biblioteca en comparanza con lo que ocurre en esta España nuestra. Un mitrado como aquellos hay que buscarlos con la lámpara de Diógenes y no nos saldrían más que obispillos en la nómina de conferencias episcopales, Roucos, y Tarancones de perversa memoria y toda esa clerigalla de tertulieros que se agrupa en torno a la COPE o a Intereconomía, los quicos, los neocatecumenes o los virginianos del Escorial. Bien se conoce que estos son tiempos en que se rinde culto a la serpiente (ofiolatría)

Cabo de año. San silvestre preside la jornada postrera de un 2011. dejemos que las ofiolatrías adoren al Becerro y que Moloch y Saturno sigan engullendo los cadáveres de sus propias criaturas. Nosotros que no cesamos de clamar en el desierto con trenos proféticos acojámonos al silencio del templo de Volupia. Pues a lo mejor no lo sabéis lectores. Esto de estar todos calladitos como en misa no es una costumbre cristiana sino pagana. Volupia era la diosa del silencio para los romanos. Los imagineros la pintaban como a una moza que da un paso al frente con el dedo índice sobre los labios. No es el buey mudo toma sino la imposición de esas viejas cotorras que dicen chissssst y hay que estar modositos. Oír ver y callar pero han quedado los seminarios vacíos, los conventos secos, la grey dispersa mientras surgen voces como la mía que gritan y en el erial se produce el estruendo.

No he de callar por más que con el dedo silencio avises o amenaces miedo… chist. Prefiero el silencio de la Anatolia. Allí los anacoretas se entregaban al silencio y su actitud es hoy definida por las más hermosas de las palabras rusas:

-Oiga esos contertulios parlan como oráculos.

-Habrá que encerrarlos en el templo de Volupia amarados en blanca. A ver si aprenden.

-No aprenderán nunca. Sueltan el trapo como cotorra y para colmo ganan dinero.

Estos manirrotos y boquirrotos son un contraste con aquel abad silense que era hombre de pocas palabras. Fray Justo tenía un perfil alemán. Era de una gran bondad y entendía el cristianismo no bajo el látigo de nuestros grandes conversos –Loyola, Teresa de Ávila, Juan de la Cruz un poeta que deviene casi pornográfico a fuer de amor divino- sino dentro de la horma y el báculo de la epiqueya de moderación católica de san Isidoro. Fue el cantor excelso como Prudencio de nuestros mártires en la guerra civil. Un autentico Tabelión de la orden de San Benedicto que levanta acta de ciertos hechos para que la historia guardara conocimiento por ejemplo de la barbarie cometida por las hordas rojas.

ADQUIERA EL LIBRO “seminario vacío”

Es una obra fundamental para conocer las cosas que están pasando en España desde la llamada “transición” en referencia a los cambios operados también en la Iglesia. Es una obra de amena lectura, de rica prosa enriquecida por un buen comando del castellano y el dominio de los recursos narrativos, en el marco de un ambiente melancólico en el que se añora un tiempo medieval y una sociedad española que despareció para nunca volver.

Garantizamos al lector que pasará un buen rato entregado a su lectura y que no podrá dar de mano al libro hasta llegar a la palabra “fin” lo que siempre es un signo determinativo de la calidad de una novela.

El autor es un veterano literato con muchos años de oficio a las espaldas. Cuenta con la boca grande lo que muchos españoles no se atreven a decir con la boca pequeña, en una sociedad dominada por el miedo, los convencionalismos, y el interés mercantilista de una España donde han muerto los ideales, que se niega a reconocer su pasado y de esta forma renuncia al futuro
