ere is a short but beautiful walk through the stunning grounds of an estate and you can finish with a drink or two.
South Dalton Hall is set in acres of rolling fields and woodland while the large house stands on higher ground.

But while the likes of Burton Constable, Burton Agnes and Wassand Hall have been opened to the public, South Dalton remains stubbornly private. However, there is a public highway running through the grounds which provides a gentle but lovely walk.
The road is gated on one side with a cattle grid on the other. To the casual observer you would not know the road is public. Read more below and view the scenery you can enjoy on the walk.
Starting off
Park up safely in the village of South Dalton, you can admire the domineering spire of St Mary’s Church.

Then you should head down West End where you will come across the renowned Michelin Star-rated Pipe and Glass pub/restaurant. Of course, you could plan ahead and book a table here to make it a real day out.

At this point there is a gate which you can go through to enter the Dalton estate. It is important to note you need to keep to the roadside. The grounds all around are private land. It is a bit frustrating as the temptation is to stride off into the fields and woodland to explore but this is not allowed. However, there are plenty of views to soak in as the road sweeps down into a valley.
