Spanish police stormed a major square in the country's capital after smoke bombs and flares were let off and bottles were being smashed.
Around 4,000 supporters of the English champions are said to have travelled for the quarter-final against Atletico Madrid.

The supporters were in good spirits earlier in the day in Plaza Mayor, enjoying the warm sunshine and refreshments in Madrid.
But as some fans became rowdy, baton-wielding police were forced to intervene.
Objects, including blue smoke bombs, were thrown at the officers as they charged the square.
Fans were also heard singing 'You Spanish b******s, Gibraltar is ours.'
Leicester fan and Match of the Day presented Gary Lineker tweeted that some fans had behaved 'despicably' in Madrid.
Videos also emerged online of the police hitting Leicester fans to the ground.
At least three people were taken into custody after the brief confrontation this afternoon.
'All the shops were closing their shutters,' Leicester fan Tom Campbell said. 'The police just basically charged at everyone.'

Security officers had formed a line outside the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid before the match started on Wednesday
The confrontation quickly ended when more officers arrived to help contain the fans.
Authorities at the scene said there were no reports of serious injuries. Fans at the plaza said some people were taken into ambulances for treatment.
Authorities said travelling fans of also disrespected police officers and caused problems last night - leading to eight people being detained.
Around 100 Leicester fans were in the plaza when the problems occurred. Authorities said the disorder began when police officers tried to disperse the crowd.
Spanish media said two officers and three fans sustained minor injuries.

Leicester fans outside the stadium described the clashes as 'handbags', adding that tear gas was used, with one describing the police as 'intimidating'.
Another fan, who said there were 'about five or six big bangs', added: 'On the whole it was okay, but we did scarper out quite quickly earlier on when the police decided to throw rubber bullets at us.'
Alcohol was to blame, according to one fan, who said: 'It was just too much drink they've had.'
The first leg of the quarterfinals was played at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, with Atletico winning 1-0.
